Yamaha UX3 131CM as new upright piano in ebony
The Yamaha UX3 shares everything from the U3 plus the addition of upgraded hammerheads as used on the C3, C5 conservatory model grand pianos and an X braced radial backpost design and high grading of wood. Although the X braced radial backpost design is boroughed from the German Grotrian upright piano it increases the general tone and sustain compared to the U3. Orchestra pits where a popular resting place for UX3's as their tone was big and powerful yet fitted in the pit where grands wouldn't. The inclusion of sound channels on the front casework gives greater volume and a more immersive experience for the performer.
The UX3 is no longer in production as the cost of manufaturing became to great for yamaha to keep it's market share as the last retail price for the UX3 in Australia was an amazing $21 000, more than a grand piano.
